2012-2013 Saanich Braves Junior B Hockey club

October 24, 2012, Victoria, BC - The Peninsula Panthers Josh Adkins flies through the air as the Saanich Braves Sam Johnston looks on during Vancouver Island Junior B Hockey League action Wednesday at Pearkes Arena. The Braves would need a shoot-out goal from Josh Gray to prevail 3-2.

Why I Chose This Photo: Expect the unexpected. Often sports will present you with something out of the ordinary in terms of action and present you with an image that is different from the norm. Hockey players don't normally fly through the air like Superman, but in this case, Adkins was tripped up by Johnston and did his best super-hero impression on his way to the ice. The trick in capturing an image like this, is to always make sure you shoot "through the action" (I also like the fact that my rink board ad is clearly visible in the background!).
