2010-2011 Victoria Salmon Kings

2010-2011 Victoria Salmon Kings

April 20, 2011, Victoria, BC - Utah Grizzlies goaltender Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux looks hopelessly to the heavens after surrendering the game-winning goal 11 seconds into overtime to the Victoria Salmon Kings Josh Aspenlind in ECHL playoff action Wednesday night at Save-on-Foods Memorial Arena in Victoria. The win would give the Salmon Kings a 3-0 lead in their Western Conference semi-final series.

Why I Chose This Photo - I recently heard Sports Illustrated's Director of Photography Steve Fine say that they often look for photos that show "Cheers and Tears". This photo has a bit of both....the Grizzlies goaltender looking to the sky a bit too late for divine assistance, the defenceman looking down and depressed at the puck bouncing out of the net and the Salmon King player cheering the game winning goal.
