February 28, 2015, Victoria, BC - A member of the Vancouver Island University Men's Volleyball team goes up for a spike during the 2015 PACWEST Provincial Volleyball Championships at the PISE gym, Camosun College in Victoria.

WHY I CHOSE THIS PHOTO: Volleyball was a first for me in 2015 and all that I had read about it told me that it was a very tough sport to photograph. After trying to get some decent shots from court-side and court level, I noticed that the PISE gym had some windows on a second level that looked down on the court. This provided an awesome angle to get shots of some of the action above the net and a better angle on the faces of the players going up for spikes like this. I like the players face and his form as he prepares to spike the ball, as well as the fact that I have captured both the ref and the first row of spectators who are eagerly awaiting the result of the play.
