July 16, 2014, Victoria, BC - The Victoria Highlanders host the Vancouver Whitecaps U23 in Premier Development League playoff action at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria. The Whitecaps would rout the Highlanders 7-2.

WHY I CHOSE THIS PHOTO: I have always wanted to capture a soccer photo similar to this, where a player is taking a free kick and the defending wall is guarding their faces and "private parts" with their hands...not quite the full effect here, but in capturing the shot just a brief moment after it was taken, I got a much better series of facial expressions, as well as movement as the shot heads to the goal. The great late evening sunlight and the goaltender framed up between the players also adds to the drama.
