2011 Victoria Eagles Baseball Club

2011 Victoria Eagles Baseball Club

April 9, 2011, Victoria, BC - A member of the Nanaimo Pirates, in "old school" stirrup socks, begins his lead-off from first base during a BC Premier Baseball League game against the Victoria Eagles at Lambrick Park in Victoria. The Pirates would spoil the Eagles 2011 home opener with 7-4 and 8-1 wins.

Why I Chose This Photo: This was a shot that I specifically took to focus on the "retro" socks that many of the Nanaimo players were sporting. Once I saw it, I felt it would lend itself nicely to some "retro" black and white processing to give it a gritty "old school" look. I like to think I succeeded. It helps that the player is wearing low cut cleats and that they are metal, as opposed to having some plastic molded components to them. And the baggy pants too!
